Shamama Reserve is not simply a fragrance we blend. It is something we have made for us by a generational attar house following our own specifications and a tradition that cannot be hurried.

At its heart are nutmeg, saffron, cardamom, Oud and ambergris woven together with more than twenty-three additional materials including traditional florals, all resting upon a foundation of Mysore Sandalwood.

The materials are slowly cooked over a wood fire in a traditional copper still the distillation unfolding patiently over approximately fourteen days. There is no shortcut to this process. Heat, time and the judgement of the distiller gradually bring spice, flowers, woods and deeper animalic nuances together before they are captured into sandalwood.

And even then, Shamama Reserve is not ready.

We allow it to age for three to four years. This long rest is essential to its character. The individual ingredients stop speaking separately. Sharp edges soften, the spices become rounded and polished, the Oud settles deeper into the sandalwood, and the ambergris develops a beautifully diffusive, musky warmth.

THE SMELL

The first impression is pristine spice.

Nutmeg and cardamom feel warm and aromatic rather than culinary while saffron brings its unmistakable dry, slightly leathery golden character. There is richness immediately but remarkably little heaviness.

As it warms on the skin, the floral heart begins to appear not as an obvious bouquet but as a soft sweetness running through the spices. Mysore Sandalwood gives the entire composition its creamy almost velvety texture.

Then comes the Oud.

This is not a loud, funky or aggressively animalic Oud experience. Years of maturation have rounded it into something much more composed: deep wood, gentle earthiness, warm resin and an almost skin-like muskiness. Ambergris quietly expands around it, giving the attar lift, warmth and that difficult-to-describe sensation of something simultaneously mineral, musky and intimately human.

The longer Shamama Reserve remains on skin, the more beautiful it becomes.

The opening spice gradually melts into sandalwood. Florals appear and disappear between the woods. Saffron leaves a faint leathery warmth. Oud becomes softer and darker. Eventually everything settles into a sweet, rich, velvety veil of sandalwood, aged Oud, ambergris and musk.

It does not smell like a collection of ingredients anymore.

It smells matured.

There is an old-world refinement to it—the character of something that has spent years quietly becoming itself.

HOW TO WEAR IT

Shamama Reserve needs very little.

Two small swipes are enough one on the wrist and another just below the earlobe. Body warmth slowly opens the attar, allowing different facets to reveal themselves over many hours.

Do not judge it only from the first few minutes. Wear it close to the skin and allow it time. Shamama is meant to unfold rather than announce itself.

Spice becomes floral.
Floral becomes woody.
Wood becomes musk.

And somewhere between them he boundaries disappear.
